Provisional Arrangement

The concept of liquid modernity was created by the sociologist and philosopher Zygmunt Bauman as a metaphor to describe the condition of constant mobility and change he sees in relationships, identities, and global economics within contemporary society. In liquid modernity, people construct their own identity through continuous consumption. Trying to seek security and achieve an imagined beauty and harmony. However, the identity obtained through consumption is not permanent. People struggle in the process of finding self-identity by constantly buying, discarding, and reshaping, Every moment can be a new beginning, but never an end. Uncertainty, instability, and fragility are the most common characteristics of contemporary living conditions. Having materialized his observation and reflection through a series of metaphorical objects, Shun Chih Chang collages the fragment of time to portray his fluxing life experience. Shun Chih Chang developed a new method of making objects by deconstructing the perfect cast wax, he is fascinated by the unpredictable changes in the process. Trying to challenge the boundaries between perfection and imperfection, freedom and stability.
